So my mom has this thing with keeping ALL my stuff form when I was a baby or even a toddler, or so i found when cleaning the garage. Well in one of her many bags and boxes I found a bag of a bunch of tshirts i wore when I was little. My mom being the sentimental lady that she is, I decided to make something out of them while still preserving that yes they are tshirts.
Tshirts laying on the diningroom table, ready to be sewn shut and then together. next quilt i do like this I need to remember to iron tshirts BEFORE sewing them shut.
I had help from the dad, who actually got my mom's sewing machine to like me.
Pieces of shirts I wore in high school, yes there is camo in there. My pirate jacket from Halloween is also represented in the scrap pieces.
Updates will come soon as its finished :)

Handmade books
I made these awhile ago but I finally got around to taking photos of them before they get any more beat up. I made one for my fiancee at the time so he could draw in it and the other is my watercolor book. No more pre made sketchbooks for me... their too expensive anyway. Next I plan to start making my own paper! So very poor...

Old books
I finally got around to properly documenting all my handmade books, most of which by now have seen better days. I have more info about the process of each on my blog, but feel free to commont if theres something I missed!

Hemp Necklaces Part Deux
Ok so I was bored and got the 2nd design done....twice. I like black hemp but since Shannon and I have to wear lilac for a wedding and I had some lilac-ish hemp I'd try one in black and one in lilac.
The black one came first, and I used a more ornate first bead, also bigger, to give that chandelier look.
And yea just to amuse myself I made the lilac one. I've been making necklaces too long today, the lilac only took 31 minutes, probably 45 if you count wrestling with a jumpring for the pendant. It also has a few more beads because the knots are tighter and I used a smaller first bead.
And now I'm off to make something else, something not jewelry hopefully.

Hemp Necklaces
So I like to weave, so I went the hemp route instead of metal working for now. My first attempt was a necklace for the Photo Senior Show, I ended up finishing it for something else. I'm mostly using black hemp because black goes with everything. I used blue for the filler cords, made a nice little pop of color along with the silver of the camera charm. All the knotting I believe is just alternating the direction of a bunch of half knots.
For the second necklace I found a design that used a Lark's Head knot to attach the cord onto the charm/pendant. Next was a few Josephine knots, they were suppose to lay flat but yea...I hate Josephine knots. The original design also called for two of them with all 8 cords. There were many harsh and vulgar words with 8 cords, so I changed it so there was one Josephine knot on each grouping, 4 is much easier to work with. And after the Josephine knots on the original design it splits off anyway, so I just started early. Since I chose a chandelier pendant I wanted a design that kind of looked like a chain. This one worked nicely, instead of typical beads that hemp jewelry calls for, I used little acrylic crystal things, held on with jump rings. After each jewel are half hitch knots I believe. The original design also made a much longer necklace, so after the last jewel I went in with more half hitch knots instead of the Josephines the design called for. The necklace was finished off with a Josephine on each side just to tie everything together.
Each necklace probably took a couple hours and thats it. Oh and the second one is one I plan on wearing to Cyan's wedding :) Well after playing with one more design, that'll be posted later, once I actually work on it.

Photo Arts
So working on my first jewelry piece. But until that is finished and because I'm a photo kid here's some photo art. First one is some cyanotypes I played with over the summer. They'll go on something this summer when I get my work area back.
These are my leave-behinds for a Portfolio Review we had in November. Since I primarily want to work with bands and music inspired photography I went with the concept of a CD box set. Brown box was bought at Barnes and Noble and the blue paper was bought at the bookstore. Purple envelope held a thank you note along with a business card. Thank you notes also bought at Barnes and Noble, I'm in the process of making my own line of cards.
